    Which Hikvision ColorVu PoE camera?

What would people recommend for a 'overview' camera? A lot seem to have a 1/3 lense which is probably too small?

    Which Hikvision ColorVu PoE camera?

Is there anything youd recommend to suit our older NVR whilst offering better detail?

    Which Hikvision ColorVu PoE camera?

https://www.hikvision.com/uk/products/IP-Products/Network-Cameras/Pro-Series-EasyIP-/DS-2CD2145FWD-I-S-/ Not really sure what im looking for but that ones a 4mp camera, IR and I think it has a good image sensor 1/2.7" which I guess is better than a 1/1.8" sensor? Ah, just seen the 1/1.8 is a...

    Which Hikvision ColorVu PoE camera?

Not limiting myself to colorVu. One that is reasonably priced and does the job better than what we have is what im looking for really.

    Which Hikvision ColorVu PoE camera?

Their upgrade or bigger brother would probably fit the criteria well. Maybe a 4mp or a 6mp camera would have enough detail in the image to better what we have currently, and have no issues with the older NVR we have.

    Which Hikvision ColorVu PoE camera?

https://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2013101905391080103.pdf I believe thats the PDF for them Unless theres settings in the camera that just need a tweak to get better from it.

    Which Hikvision ColorVu PoE camera?

Not too sure how far it is to that gate in all fairness. Your right the existing is just for overview at present, which is why we are looking for something a bit better to give more detail. I believe that's off a dome camera with one of the numbers linked above.

    Which Hikvision ColorVu PoE camera?

Same camera in the dark We used to have outdoor lights along the wall, but they all failed so really low light along there at present

    Which Hikvision ColorVu PoE camera?

I thought the NVR might be bandwidth restricted so thought best to ask rather than just add and have issue. I have attached a couple of pictures of the camera we want to replace with the main drive up to our garage. I mean the current ones just about make out a license plate at the distance...

    Which Hikvision ColorVu PoE camera?

Greetings all. Having had a lot of success on the CCTV system we were left with when we moved in with no user details, ive popped back along to see what people would recommend in terms of adding extra cameras to our system. We have a 16port NVR (DS-7616-E2-16p) and currently have 5 cameras...

    RJ45 Wiring connector order

Hmmm, makes sense. Especially if I was confusing the male end and female end of the RJ45. If thats the case, im surprised the wiring in the RJ45 pic above I made up actually works. As it should be out.

    RJ45 Wiring connector order

Look at pin 6 on the wall socket. Normally this is the green wire on a standard cat5/6 lead. Which corresponds to green/white on the diagram if looking at the unedited one. but if you go off the cable colour for the B version, it ends up as pin 3 for the yellow cable.

    RJ45 Wiring connector order

Strange. It’s definitely wrong if I do it according to the diagram above, even reversing the pins from 1-8. I had to use the wall socket adapter and match the pin layout with the wire colour in the hikvision document to make the right order cable. this is definitely a value series camera. I...

    RJ45 Wiring connector order

Hi all Just a post to see if any other people have struggled sticking a male RJ45 on the end of a hikvision lead. Ive done it in the past and was successful. Another of our cameras suffered corroded pins inside the female connector on the hikvision lead. So did some end to end testing with...

Unable to change DS-2CD2232-i5 IP address or password

I’ve set a password on it and set its IP to 192.168.1.25 as a random address. Is it just a case of plugging it into the nvr now and it’ll appear in the live view automatically?

Unable to change DS-2CD2232-i5 IP address or password

Got it. Swapped the cable round and now got the device registering in SADP. Showing as inactive. All working via the web GUI aswell. Just need to add it to the NVR now. Our PoE ports have 192.168.254.1-16 as their IPs. Do I need to set the camera IP address to the IP of the port its...

Which way round does it go? I can see the numbers 2 and 35/36 on the boards. I can only assume pin the lower pins meet each other and the same for the higher pins?

Unable to change DS-2CD2232-i5 IP address or password

Good to know the fix/mod worked as planned. Will await these cables turning up and will probably ask again for instructions on setting it all up etc. I guess its the spare jumper on the board. It wont be anything to do with the ribbon cable for the camera lens will it? removed it to check...

Unable to change DS-2CD2232-i5 IP address or password

I think these are the files, there was a set in the recycle bin. Must have tried them 3 times over. The V1 is the first effort, v2 second and v3 the third. Can you check them over please :D

Unable to change DS-2CD2232-i5 IP address or password

That’s fair one. Just was curious as to why it showed that way. It couldn’t just want some Chinese firmware on could it?

Purchased. For a fiver if it helps get the cam back online it’s a small cost to pay Why would it have been running Chinese firmware but show a UK/genuine serial number?

Thing is I ran the brick took a couple time’s to confirm that it 100% worked. So the file could have been overwritten. I have some arduino stuff, but no idea if it has a TTL wire in.

Powered off a 12v adapter currently. Should be powerful enough to sort the camera out power wise. I’ll get the files uploaded tonight, don’t think I have the original Chinese one unless it’s made it’s way to the recycle bin on the computer. How hard is the serial console bit? I don’t...

Unable to change DS-2CD2232-i5 IP address or password

Not too sure, there was some water damage in the connector to begin with so maybe could have fried something inside it. I tried with the other firmware versions late last night and still no luck. However, looking at the network switch, the camera shows activity for about 2-3minutes, then...

Little update, tried the downgrader again, however with the 5.2.3 firmware, still the same. These are the files I got from the log files. Tried to update to the 5.4.5 firmware through the TFTP server through the normal method. This said it was successful however the camera still does not...

Unable to change DS-2CD2232-i5 IP address or password

Worked through the process, changed all the bytes and checksums, saved the mod file and re-ran the script. Putty claimed the firmware update was sucessful, however it doesnt pick it up in SADP or via the 192.168.1.64 IP address. This was with the V5.4.5_build170123 firmware.
