    Blue Iris UI3

It's not a security issue. I can use the rest of the UI3 interface in Silk as admin with no problem. My issue is only the failure to scroll the iframe that contains the alerts/clips list. If this list were contained in a regular frame rather than an iframe, maybe it would work. I found a couple...

    Blue Iris UI3

Question about Amazon's Silk browser on a TV: I'd like to view UI3 on my TV via my FireTV stick, so last night I used Silk to login to UI3, but I had a little problem. I couldn't grab the scroll bar for the alert/clip list and pull it down, which means I was stuck viewing only the alerts/clips...

Option to add camera overlay/graphics to BVR direct-to-disc clips viewed remotely

So the yellow object boxes are not available in UI3 on alerts or clips, instead they are available only on the live feed? Got it. Only one question: Why do I see a yellow box on the first frame in each popup video window when I pass my cursor over the alerts in the list to the left in UI3...

Option to add camera overlay/graphics to BVR direct-to-disc clips viewed remotely

On the new website on the "Updates - Blue Iris Software" page it says this is one of the BI5 features: ... but it was my understanding that direct-to-disk recording makes overlays impossible ... so is this feature available only when viewing in a browser or a smartphone app? And where is this...

How to ignore raindrops streaking down the image?

Good point. I'll try to create a peak in the umbrella, in line with the camera, to help shed water to the sides. That's a project for the very distant future. We have to build a new house for ourselves first, before the chickens get a new house ... :)

How to ignore raindrops streaking down the image?

Yes, I tried covering it with my finger, but I still didn't see any light from the LEDs. I'll try again some day, using black electrical tape instead of my finger, to insure that it's covered 100%. I haven't messed with the smartphones or the IR emitter modules since I received my SV3C and...

How to ignore raindrops streaking down the image?

I think that's the big difference between your installation and mine, Dramus. My camera is sitting out in the weather with nothing but a few tree branches and bamboo leaves above it. So before I try anything else, I'm going to rig up an old umbrella above my camera. That's basically like a...

How to ignore raindrops streaking down the image?

Hi TonyR, thanks for the suggestions. I bought some small IR emitter modules when I first started experimenting with re-purposing unused smartphones as surveillance cameras. Smartphones do not have built-in IR light sources so I bought a handful of these cheap IR modules on eBay. They are...

How to ignore raindrops streaking down the image?

I was actually hoping for a software configuration solution, but an umbrella might help, assuming that the raindrops triggering BI5's motion detection are those closest to the camera. Perhaps the raindrops farther away from the camera than 1-2 feet might not be identified as motion in my current...

How to ignore raindrops streaking down the image?

One of my cameras is outside, pointed toward our chicken feeder. We use this camera to observe nocturnal wildlife -- mostly rats, opossums and raccoons -- as they come to eat the chicken feed overnight while the chickens are safely locked in their coop. I had my alerts configured pretty well in...

    Blue Iris UI3

Thanks bp2008, I never noticed those disk space settings until you pointed them out to me. I took your advise and now I'm getting a more reasonable 13% disk space number.

    Blue Iris UI3

I'm having a problem with UI3. I reported it first on the "official" BI Forum but that's a screwed-up forum at this time. It hasn't worked properly for me since I joined it a couple of weeks ago, and now it is completely inaccessible -- I'm getting errors like "[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file...

blue iris main benefits over current model NVR?

I thought this way too at first but now I disagree when the current need is only for 4 cameras or fewer, here's why: 1- If you know you won't need more than 4 cameras any time soon, you can save money upfront with the 4-port POE switch. 2 The BV-Tech 4-Port POE switch I bought for only $35 has...

The large orange clock icon that appears and disappears?

I can sometimes make the icon appear if I set my playback speed high enough, or at least I think I made the icon appear by doing this one time. I'll click the icon the next time it appears, thanks bp2008.

The large orange clock icon that appears and disappears?

I see. So is this related to a network slowdown? Or a server slowdown? Or is it impossible to tell which is causing the slowdown?

The large orange clock icon that appears and disappears?

A large orange clock icon appears at the top right on my UI3 screen sometimes. I tried but failed to find a reference to it in the 'Help' PDF file. Can someone tell me why it pops up occasionally, and then disappears after a while? It indicates some kind of problem, correct?

    Blue Iris UI3

THANK YOU bp2008! I had no idea that I could download a clip from the clip list and context menu. I thought I had to play the clip in the playback area, then click the download icon at the right side of the playback controls. The context menu with the AVI option makes this much faster and easier!

    Blue Iris UI3

Only one problem, I cannot find an "Export as AVI" setting in UI3. Of course I could have missed it, but if there isn't one in UI3, is there one in BI5 that would determine the download format while using UI3?

    Blue Iris UI3

When I click the 'download' icon for a particular clip or event, the downloaded file has a .bvr suffix, but my Ubuntu computer doesn't know how to play it. Does anyone here know which Ubuntu Linux program I should associate with this file type so I can play them locally?

I wonder how, or is it even possible, to keep the video playback controls visible at the bottom of the camera image area? They keep disappearing after a few seconds, then I have to move the mouse to bring them back before I can use them again. I use these controls a lot while reviewing clips, so...

How to configure detection rectable color and save then in videos?

Thanks for the info. I didn't even know it existed. Looks like a great source of info for everyone new to BI. Okay, I won't waste time mentioning bugs here any more.

How to configure detection rectable color and save then in videos?

Actually I found another bug today. Sometimes when clicking the gear icon to manage the camera settings, the Audio settings dialog is displayed, not the main camera settings dialog. I have to quit and restart the program to clear this bug.

How to configure detection rectable color and save then in videos?

I guess this makes sense to me now that you've explained it, thanks fenderman! The reason I questioned this in the first place is because I'm a software developer myself, and the demos I've created in the past have never been separate products like the demo and paid versions of BI are. Instead...

How to configure detection rectable color and save then in videos?

Can you explain a little more about why the demo version uses more CPU than the paid version? The reason I ask is because it seems strange to me that the developer would create a demo version that uses more CPU than the paid version. In my opinion it would make more sense to insure that the...

The "Help" icon in the Blue Iris 5 program opened a PDF file which looks like a manual, so I'm reading it now.

How to configure detection rectable color and save then in videos?

Well yes, I am running the demo. So there's a difference between the demo and the paid version? That's not good news for anyone who wants to actually know how the paid software will behave before paying for it. :( What are the other differences, and how might they affect my paid vs. demo...

How to configure detection rectable color and save then in videos?

Hi fenderman, I thought it would, but according to the info at the bottom of the BI screen it is hovering between 13-15% right now. This would probably be a lot less if I were running a faster system, but I'm only running a second generation i3 -- and at this time only one 1080P camera (with...

How to configure detection rectable color and save then in videos?

Hello looney2ns, You may be correct for #1 ... … but for #2 I went to the camera's "Settings > Record > Video file format and compression" and I switched from "Direct-to-disc" to "Re-encode with settings" … and then my video clips started saving the rectangles! :)

How to configure detection rectable color and save then in videos?

I installed Blue Iris 5 today, and I'm having a couple of problems: 1- How can I change the color of the rectangles BI overlays on my videos when the software senses motion? 2- How do I configure BI to save those rectangles in the video files it is storing on my hard drive?
