Well , i have been busy with looking on the web to cheap and good image camera's (aren't we all :rapture:)
And i could not resist to order this camera since it is 54 Usd or something in that area.

So, let the journey begin :)
Hope it arrives soon, with the Chinese new year coming up now.
I'll keep you guys updated

Review starts here
==========================================================

Finally today i could pick up the camera at the post office, was wrapped with some foam and plastic around the carton box.
Nothing special but everything has survived the journey.
It took about 3 weeks before the package arrived, that is "normal" for shipping from China to the Netherlands usually when using the cheapest mail way.
And now with the Chinese new year in between it is actually somehow impressive really haha.

I connected it right away to the network and used the browser login to see what settings could be made.
The menu is the same as many Chinese IP camera's so it was known with it as far i understand what setting does do what ofc ;)
Made some GIF files because taking screenshots of all would take to much time.

Skipped some of the functions that are not in the camera, so here we go to the Encode tab.

This is the network and so called net service tab.

Here are the rest of the menu options.

This menu can only be called when using internet explorer, i am not sure what version i use since i normally use firefox but here it does work.
When using firefox you do not see this function, only streaming image.

In these pictures i used a dahua 3 Megapixel bullet camera which is the first time also for me because i had it laying around and never tested it before since i received it also last week.
But for a reference with a more known brand i thought it would be sufficient for now.
The model i used i will write down later when i checked it ( its in my car , going to install tomorrow)

The shots are made by Blueiris by pressing SNAPSHOT in the menu list, not sure if this is the best way for the highest quality...

You can clearly see the reflection of the IR.

Then i wanted to do a little test outside, it is not much since the cams are on the ground so the IR gives some problems with a short focal range or however it is called.
But hey, it gives a bit of an idea.

Looks better , but that is because of the reflection.
Then i turned off the IR, actually i switched it manually to color mode because i could not get the IR off.

This is not a great view on both camera's with these low light circumstances.

Still not satisfied with the IR results, so i took the camera apart.
i could not find any defects or bad mounting at the ir and the glass for the ir leds is separated by the black tube/pipe where the lens sits in.
This could not cause it, but when using the camera without the housing , the ir fog was gone.

Lights off
Cam1.20160218_213300.jpg
(i might have touched the lens a bit when playing with it, because its out off focus.)

So i put it in the housing again, and thought it can't be something else then the rain screen/protector that reflects the ir.
I wanted to cut it off, but ten i thought i use some black isolation tape, which i could not find but i did have a permanent marker in black :)

i know its ot pretty haha, but i can remove it since i did put some clear tape on it, in case that was not the solution ;)
But this does work as you can see on the picture above when you compare it to the first results.

Some inside pictures:

The chip in my case is the hisilicon 3516 , in the advertisement it says the 3516D but i am not sure if this is printed on the chip ?
24483675974_23a8d40d54_h.jpg
Some sort of Samsung chip next to it.
24746665589_4288b2264d_c.jpg
The lens is a 3.6 mm lens as described.

Now, what worries me the most is the temperature as is spoken about in this topic.
You do not have to worry when it hangs outside that it will freeze.
This is inside , next to it is a dahua cam.

Then when i had it dismantled i had the cam parts in my hand and it got pretty hot i must say.
This can't be right ??!?! and probably will damage the camera in anyway, if it is not catching fire, then it is melting chips or i believe its called flux haha.

Difficult to see because its that bright but it says 63.8 Degrees Celsius or in that direction.

Also made one with Farenheit for the US members.

And a little later, i found the real hotspot !
25021276371_a71daefa10_b.jpg

I have some video's as well, will edit this and upload them later on.
Have to go to bed so this is it for now.

In general, i must say i am not really dissapointed except of the heat production.
The imaged in my opionion are far from the ones that are posted by Starsurfer, i actually was a bit down and thought well another 50 down the drain haha.
But for a 50 dollar camera, it is not bad at all especially when you compare it next to the 3MP dahua that was i think about double the price (with shipping ofc)

Would i recommend them, nah, the heat will break them or set them in fire, for the image, yes why not.
With enough IR its even pretty usable at night i must say.
At day time not much problems.

The settings are well in the few minutes i played with them , not really working.
I must ake the time and a good spot for testing to see the results but maybe i will come back to that.
I will put the camera in another housing, and place a heatsink on the hisilicon chip because it gets to hot.
Then use a small brushless fan at a certain speed and some thermal grease beneat the heatsink ofc.
See what that does to the temperature.

I wonder what the seller will give for a explanation.

Well , first time ive gived a review about anything.
Be gentle.

I've had that camera housing before. It's ok but not amazing. Does the job is the best way of describing it.

Hi Everybody!
I am from Switzerland and i am sorry for my bad english!

I got this cam last week:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/XMEYE-Security-High-Resolution-H-265-IP-Camera-4MP-Indoor-Outdoor-CCTV-Camera-HI3516D-OV4689-2592/32456153207.html

I found, the image quality is very poor. So i opened the cam and toked a look inside. Pls see the attachments.

1. Seller promised 6mm lens. Cam has 3.6mm.
2. Seller promised h.265. Pictures on his website shows h.265 with 25 Fps. Pls see attachment Config China.jpg with only h.264 and 18 Fps.
3. Seller promised OV4689. Pls see attachment Comparison 1200x800.jpg. The first cam is a over 10y old Mobotix with res 1280x780.
4. Seller promised HI3516D. Pls see Picture 2. I looks like 3516A.
5. If connected to Cam, IE crashes many times.
6. Some points in Configuration does not work properly.
7. VERY IMPORTANT! The housing got very hot. I measured after 90 min´s and got 70°C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is Dangerous and i will not use this cam anymore!

I hope, this helps you to decide, if this cam is garbage or not!

Your English is fine.
It sounds like you have enough dissatisfaction to raise a dispute.
Though your experience does seem to be different from the apparent reviews on the seller's page.
Perhaps they have sent the wrong item.
Have you acknowledged delivery yet?

Hi3516a is actually better than Hi3516d but that doesn't explain lack of h265 and wrong lens...

Image quality is what's to be expected I think. It is using a lower quality lens which results in noticeable blurring at sides. The sample pic is taken in difficult lighting, I think it will look better without the strong light in the background.

Haha, well it was worth to try.
Will see how it goes when i receive mine.
It will probably be the same and i will be opening a dispute if so, wonder how it turns out.

But with the Chinese near year festivities in place i think this can take another 2-3 more weeks before something turns up in my mailbox.
When it does it will be getting a very good inspection :)

About the lens, is a "good" lens expensive ?
Because if this costs not to much and make the image much more clear/sharp it is still a not very expensive camera.
I probably know already where this cam is going to, having a happy dad on the end haha

Should have say What is a good inexpensive lens sorry,
i understand that the lens is "everything"
Same with mobile phones, friends of mine where bragging about there 21 or 24 Megapixel camera, and the pictures compared to my 8 mp with carlseiz lens where much clearer and with a 8Mp sensor.

But wat i mean't was , what is a reasonable lens for a reasonable price, not the cheap go pro lenses you can buy from dx.com and other chinese stores.
Because maybe it is worth a try to change a lens for a better one to see what result this gives.

I wouldn't worry too much about the heat, its probably well within spec seeing as there's so many cameras with the hi3516 chip. The plastic casing doesn't help, the dahua is metal? so it dissipates the heat better.

Indeed! Loads of interesting info.
It looks like there is a lot of 'IR bleed' spoiling the low-light shots. I wonder why, when there isn't a dome, unless the foam ring isn't working properly.
Is that a fingerprint I see on the camera glass?
Maybe a careful clean of the camera glass inside and out may make a difference.

The 3516 (or whatever it is) is missing a heatsink. Not surprising it's getting warm. Do you think there is enough headroom inside the case to fit one?
