I have extra POE ports on my Unifi switch in my data cabinet, and it would be great to use the ports to power a light strip for the cabinet. Does anyone make a 802.3af LED light strip? I am thinking the LED lighting gear is passive since it does not require a handshake....if I understand everything correctly.

I'm in the same boat, want poe lighting for my extra ports.

The LED may be "passive" however the poe switch requires the handshake in order to provide power.

If you find a product the works, please share.

you can use any 802.3 splitter to then power a 12v strip...

Duh, thanks. Just have to be mindful of power requirements of the lights.

So in theory I could use my poe switch in conjunction with a poe splitter to power a low voltage landscape flood light correct?
