Would i be able to use the Amazon Fire 7" tablet as a cheap home monitor to display the live camera feeds from my two Dahua 5231 cameras?

I am thinking about mounting it somewhere in the house permanently charging either via usb or mains adaptor.

Or are there any better ideas out there?

The 7" Fire tablet is only £35 at the moment.

You should be able to sideload gdmss onto the fire tablet.

It works but you only get between 3-5 fps as there is no onboard hardware decoding (I flashed the Nexus ROM onto the tablet and installed TinyCam).

I have one mounted inside above my front door showing the cam pointing at the front door. Good enough to get a idea of who is at the door. The 7" screen is very small.
