I just finished a new Blue Iris install and everything seems to be playing nicely with each other.

Set up is as follows...
Fios Modem/wifi router brings internet feed into the house
Netgear R7000 is plugged into Fios router
Zyxel POE switch Plugged into R7000
Blue Iris Server Plugged into Zyxel Swtich.

I setup Direct DNS using noip.com on the R7000 Router
I enabled VPN services on the R7000 Router
I did not mess with any advanced configuration for VPN
I then downloaded the "for smart Phone" Files to my desktop
I unzipped the files and sent the .ovpn file to my cell phone
I then downloaded the OpenVPN Connect app on my Galaxy S6
I "import from sd card" the .ovpn file
App attempts to connect, but hangs on "waiting for server"
bytes are going out, but nothing coming back.
eventually it times out.

I read the forums for about 2 hours before timing out myself.... lol

Help please...

make sure your fios modem/router is allowing your router to run VPN

Called Verizon...
My instructions were more detailed, but in short what i got was, that i need to add my routers IP address and the VPN's port to the fios modem.

I know from you to never leave a port open... so my question is, does the Verizon instructions sound right?

since your router is not the router on the edge; opening/forwarding a port for your VPN Server is perfectly fine..

PROBLEM SOLVED !!!! thanks to @nayr

If anybody stumbles across the same issue with logging into your vpn behind a verizon fios router and cant log in from your cell phone....

First log into the fios router,
Click the firewall tab,
click port forwarding tab,
click the "select IP from menu" tab,
Find your router in the drop down menu and click it,
then click the "application to follow" tab,
From the drop down menu, Click "Custom Port",
Now goto your VPN Router and find your VPN Ports
(for me it was a R7000 router and in the VPN tab, in advanced configurations there was two UDP ports)
Key those ports into that space and hit save and apply. ( i had to upload one at a time and hit apply)

This worked for me and hope it works for you as well.
