So I kind of jumped into the whole mesh scene last year. Since I already had an Asus router, so I decided to expand using that.
Asus RT-AC88U main router and added 4 RT-AX82U as client mesh. Setup mesh so the wireless cameras were close to a client mesh router or I could plugin cameras as wired units.

I have 14 cameras:
3 Amcrest ASH43 (4 MP)-2 wireless, 1 wired,
3 Amcrest IP4M-1041 PTZ (4MP) 2 wired, 1 wireless,
1 Loryta SD49225XA-HNR Dahua PTZ (2MP)-wired,
1 SD49425XB (4MP)-wired,
1 REOLINK RLC-523WA PTZ (5MP)-wired,
2 Foscam R43 (4 MP)-1 wireless, 1 wired,
1 Foscam F1990P (1080P)-wireless,
1 Foscam Z2 1080p-wireless,
1 RCA Doorbell ‎HSDB1 (1080p)-wireless

Asus laptop UX501VW i7-6700HQ 24 gig RAM running Blue Iris 5, external WD hard drive 2 TB USB 3.0
Blue Iris: using most of what is mentioned here: (1) Optimizing Blue Iris's CPU Usage | IP Cam Talk

I'm wondering if I need to move toward WIFI 6/6e? I dont believe my RT-AC88U is WIFI 6 compatible.

Wi-Fi 6 only works on Wifi 6 devices. Check to see if your devices will even benefit. I told doubt they do.
None of my cameras are WIFI 6. But all the mesh routers are WIFI 6. I thought it would increase the speed having the cameras into the wifi6 mesh units and then going back to a WIFI 6 main router like a GT-AX6000

I have a asus mesh system too Im running 3 axe16000 with 17 cameras and blue iris. everything I am running is wired though. I have the mesh for things that I cant do wired like phones, ipads, etc. overall I am pretty happy with the system but have a few issues with one of the routers it might be defective. I also have 3 additional ring cameras running on the wifi and the response is excellent.

Thx. If I buy the GT-AX6000 to replace the Asus RT-AC88U main router, am I goign to see any significant increase in speed? I dont game.
So its just the cameras and blue iris and/or to the streaming devices (Firestick 4k and Apple 4K)

I have 1 GIG up and 1 GIG down from AT&T using fiber. I use stock firmware for all routers.

So my laptop has a compatible WIFI 6 KIller wifi card installed. XPS 15 Killer(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX1650s 160MHz Wireless Network Adapter (201D2W)
And my Samsung S21 Ultra is WIFI 6 compatible. So maybe both of those could use it. And it looks like the Friestick may be 6 compatible as well.

The best option is to eliminate the need for using Wifi cams at all.
Wifi is a bad choice for cameras.
They all should be wired.

And your internet speed has nothing to do with your private network performance.

Thx..I get it :)
Yes, I understand hard wiring would be best. But getting wires thru houses is sometimes very difficult. I also have 2 locations off a back deck on the lower level that would be next to imposssible. So I cant get around using some wired connections. I already went thru quite a discussion with my wife in why I am cutting holes thru the outside of the house! And I have a finished basement which doesnt help. its around 5,000 sq feet total. Indoor and out door cameras.

I'm actually trying to solve multiple issues besides the camera one. I think my main router is going bad after 4 years as well. It was a great time for an excuse to buy a new router.
