Audio Camera Install

I want to install one camera near an outside door with video and audio capability.

I was told that I must run two Cat 6 cables which I did - but do I need two cables one for video and one for audio? That’s what I was told.

You can purchase a camera with a built in mic, such as a n24cg52 and just use 1 cable. This video is a good demo on how good the built in mic works

Yes. The camera digitizes audio, video, etc before sending it over the network. Bits are bits. Doesn't matter what they are.

Some cameras have a built in mic, which means the mic is built into the housing and assembly of the camera, and some have an audio input and output, which means the audio from an external mic can be transmitted from the mic, through a cable to the camera, then back to the recorder using the same network cable as the video. The audio output can be wired into an amplifier, then a horn or speaker from the camera rather than running separate cables the area of the camera.
