Bad resolution? advice needed IPC HDBW4300E

I have hooked up a new Dahua IPC HDBW4300E HD 3Mpixle to my NAS SYNOLOGY 213AIR, and it seems to be working fine with the surveillance station software, only i am very disappointed in the image quality regardless the settings; it seems i cannot read 2 inch size letters from 10ft distance.
It is probably my inexperience but please help with this config. Thanks in advance for any advice.

My money is on it using the low res substream rather than main stream.
