BI server with 10+ HDD?

I would like to build a BI server with a i7-8700K CPU and with minimum 10 HDD + 1 NVMe SSD.
Which motherboard would you choose? I hardly can find any with more than 6 SATA connectors.
Would you buy a motherboard with 6 SATA connectors and add a PCI-Express 2.0 SATA III Controller Card?

With the 10 drives are you running a raid?

I won't use raid.

My SATA III is a PCI-express X4.. I can not remember why i did it that way, it may have been do to speed and contention considerations
