Hello, I have searched the forum but did not find my situation listed so sorry if this is duplicate of previous discussions.

I have been using Blue Iris for over a year now with 8 Hikvision bullet cameras – mostly the DS-2CD2042WD-I types each with various firmware versions. All have worked pretty well with BI.

I just purchased a new 2CD2042 and it has a firmware version of 5.5.0 build 170725.

My version of BI is 4.6.6.0x64.

I can’t get BI to connect to the camera. I can see the camera via a login through the web (using IE) no problem. I have checked and triple checked the IP address, user name and password and still no joy.

I would appreciate any suggestions or recommendations.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I did try several times using the Find/Inspect button in BI. This is what was returned.
When I add the camera in BI and use the Find inspect button this is what I get
****************
Opening 192.168.xx.xxx port 80...
HTTP Get / request...
Timeout
Opening 192.168.xx.xxx port 8999...
ONVIF GetSystemDateAndTime
HTTP 12002
Checking for common cameras...
Foscam FI86xx/98xx compatible?
Foscam FI89xx compatible?
Foscam FI9821 V2 compatible?
Foscam FI9821 media port compatible?
RTSP port open?
No automatic configuration made
Done
***************
I'm not sure what all this really means. To be clear, I am not using Foscam cameras. I even tried selecting them however in the drop-down but still no joy.

it means that blue iris is not detecting the camera...you cannot have XXX in your ip address. Enter the actual camera ip address.

I realize that, I just used the "xxx" here for security reasons :)
Yea I figured that BI was not seeing the camera, just don't know why....

That is a local ip address...there is no security reason to redact it...
you have something set wrong...delete the camera in blue iris and start over.

I appreciate your feedback, I realize it is a local IP; just habit.
I have tried multiple times of deleting the camera, rebooting the camera, PC and restarting BI and adding the camera; still nothing.
I have checked and rechecked the IP address, user name and password and all are correct.
I have tried each of the various drop down options for the Hikvision cameras too.
I have asked for BI support and still waiting to hear back from them too.
Any other thoughts? I really am open to trying just about anything.
Thanks again for taking time to help troubleshoot.

Good evening Fenderman, I'll check back later and see if you are on the board.
Curious, what are you thinking of trying that I may not have tried yet? Always trying to learn :)

Well I think a re-cap is in order.

First - Fenderman is the man, I'm sure most of you here know that. He got me all sorted out.
It was a password issue. When I set up the new camera I set up a password too long, BI did not recognize the whole thing and truncated it.

Long story short - the camera is working just fine. I do not think I would have caught that one.
Thanks again [Mr.] Fenderman :)

No problem...to clarify, it was the camera that had the password limitation, blue iris can accept 40 character passwords...

I was having the same issue. The password length didn't cross my mind.
