I'm currently overseas and going on leave soon, I plan on upgrading my analog surveillance system while I'm on leave and need a really reliable system I can put together in a week.

I can't make a decision on a NVR or Blue Iris Server...

The NVR I've been looking at is the LTN 8816 and I can't seem to find any concrete reviews...POE isn't that important I already have a couple of 3560s in place.

I don't want build a new pc for Blue Iris and I already have a Dell 9010 w/ 8Gs of RAM and a I7 3770. Being that I'm overseas and can't test Blue Iris with the IP cams I plan on using with the 9010, I'm worried about the CPU utilization. I'll have an android wall mounted tablet for my wife to monitor the door cam which will add cpu processing as well.

2-DS-2CD2332-I
4-DS-2CD2032-I
1-DS-2DE4582-AE (PTZ)

China PTZs (2)

NVR:
LTN8816 ***ANY REVIEWS???***

So will the 9010 hold up or should I go for an NVR?

I would like to try and stay with a universal system as well and maintain at least 15 fps.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

1) that pc can handle your load for blue iris ..you need to record the cameras direct to disk
2) you never have to build a pc, a brand new i7 haswell 4790 can be had for 429 when on sale at the dell outlet.
3) the NVR may not be fully compatible with the sricam and sony.

Your i7-3770 system + Blue Iris will handle that many cameras but you will have to reduce their frame rates. I run 20 cams with a total of about 60 megapixels on an i7-3770k (not overclocked, so practically the same CPU as yours) with utilization around 40%, but this is with frame rates averaging 6 FPS, and the usage of course goes up when remote viewing is happening. I keep the constant CPU usage lower than is strictly necessary and your camera load will only be half what mine is, so you might be able to handle 15 FPS or more on each camera.

I would not expect a hardware NVR like that to be able to control the China PTZs. It is questionable whether it would even be able to record video from them. However I have yet to encounter a China PTZ camera that Blue Iris can't record from and control, so Blue Iris is what I would recommend.

Thanks!! I just won't have much time once I get home and I wanted to be sure I'll have a setup that will suffice. Because I'll be doing alot of remote viewing....
