I have rummaged through many threads here. I will be purchasing starlight cams for the exterior. Problem area: my front door faces mostly east and gets full sun until the sun goes south. any idea what can be used. I was thing of the starlight mini dome but I'm worried about the sun. Here are some pictures of the property. Any suggestions? Cam locations at the bottom of post. upload_2018-2-16_11-55-51.png upload_2018-2-16_11-56-23.png upload_2018-2-16_11-56-48.png upload_2018-2-16_11-57-18.png

1- in the center of the garage doors angled to the walkway
1- at the rear door (cam will be slightly left of center to face toward pool)
1- at the northwest corner facing northeast
1- at the front door
1- inside the garage

Hi Emsufer

If not the mini-dome wedge maybe the starlight HDW42xx turret / eyeball.

This is the one I was thinking. I thought I saw a post awhile ago stating that the “dome” was actually glass and does not get affected as much as plastic domes. I tried to find it on search but there’s too many comboniations of stuff in there.

Hi Emsufer,

Yes the lens of the HDW42xx has a glass cover like the bigger turret. Which is better for long term vs plastic. Also as it is flat and not shaped like a dome you will have LESS glare issues when the sun sets. ( still will have some, thus do plan that anyone walking to the front door will have to walk through 2 camera FOVs )

You can turn labels (street names) off on google maps in just a couple clicks:

I'd put a camera under the balcony to get faces of people going up the walkway to the front door.
