Hi,

Sorry if this is a simple question.
I bought some hikvision from @EMPIRETECANDY and also some ceiling mounts.
From what I can see the hikvision cameras came with screws so i can mount them directly to the ceiling. My question is why not just mount directly to ceiling or is there an advantage to use the ceiling mounts i got additionally?

Cheers.

junction box is for hiding the cables, make installation looks professional and also can add more view if install on ceiling.

It's just an aesthetic matter. Unless you have a false ceiling a junction box is required to hide cables.

Definitely doable but requires that a much larger hole in the ceiling to stuff the thick waterproof ethernet (on the camera end) through.

Thanks for the replies. All the cameras are mounted under the eaves of the house which is plasterboard, and I climb into roofspace to connect them to ethernet.
