The serial number is held in the mtd6 flash partition.
What did you change in mtd6_orig to give mtd6_mod ?
What does the new serial number show?
Is the camera working OK, just a different serial number?
I do not remember. mtd6_orig copied and made mtd6_mod. but I do not remember it exactly

If this got mixed up with one from another camera, the MAC address will also be duplicated, which would cause problems if both are on the LAN at the same time.

If a mixup in applying mtd6_mod between cameras has taken place - recovery would be to apply the right file to the right camera.
Presumably you still have the original mtd6_orig and mtd6_mod files for each camera?
However - if it's only the serial number that is incorrect (did you check the MAC address?) then it's not really a big problem, is it?
