Changing Camera Order 4208 NVR

Hi Guys I have a Dahua 4208 NVR setup. I am looking for some help on how i can change the order of the cameras on the preview screen. I have tried going into settings>camera>remote deleting the cameras and re-adding them in the order i want. Problem is that every time the NVR reboots the camera order changes back.

Surely there is a way i can change the order of the cameras?

Would changing the camera IP's work?

My NVR is on 192.168.1.100 and camera IP's are 10.1.0.xx

I have not had much luck accessing the cameras connected into the NVR because they use the 10.1.0.xx subnet. I cant even ping the cameras.

Yes i have tried doing that via the web browser and even directly on the NVR with a mouse and monitor. When i try add/remove cameras they just instantly pop back in and i cant control anything. Wondering if i have old firmware with a bug?

can you switch camera cables on nvr and then order would change?

I wanted to change cam order (cam numbers) but wanted to avoid deleting all cameras and re-installing them from scratch, in the desired order. Alastairstevenson suggested a method that worked for me, by modifying details of the cam.
