Constant crashing

A couple of weeks ago I started setting Blue Iris up and have a bunch of cameras added. All was going fine. I stopped using it for a couple of weeks because it wasn't needed yet and came back to it today. It seemed to be working at first but I hadn't really done much other than rename some cameras.

I go into the Options --> Startup tab to turn on the option to autostart/run as a service. I tick that box. I spot the "use a system tray icon" option and think that's not a bad idea so I tick that box and before I can get down to click the OK button Blue Iris crashes.

Then any time I tried to open Blue Iris I get the splash, I get the main window loading for a fraction of a second and then a crash. Event Viewer details:

Faulting application name: BlueIris.exe, version: 4.4.9.4, time stamp: 0x584f2bc2

Crash box pic attached.

Win 7 64-bit SP1 w/ latest updates.

After that I ran an update from here Blue Iris Updates and also re-installed the latest Visual C++ Redist 2013. No change.

I could get into Blue Iris in Safe Mode but of course since I hadn't been able to save/OK the settings earlier they weren't turned on. So I installed the service/autostart.

Then I had trouble maintaining contact with the cameras. If you looked in the status thing they were just constantly flipping between red and black. When I went to the cameras pages everything seemed fine, feed was fine, pinging 100% <1ms. I installed iVMS 4200 v2.5.1.7 and it added all the cameras and could look at the live feeds just fine. All the cameras are also fine if you just go to their internally hosted webpage (don't know the right term for that, go to their IP in your web browser).

Then I completely uninstalled anything camera related (I had HIKVision's SADPtool & iVMS on there for testing), re-installed Visual, re-installed Blue Iris. Added the first camera and it immediately crashed. Same crash details as above:

Faulting application name: BlueIris.exe, version: 4.4.9.4, time stamp: 0x584f2bc2

The cameras are a combination of HIK Vision DS-2CD2735F-IS and DS-2CD2145F-IS. Software version is
V5.4.0build 160401 and DSP Version is V7.3 build 160401.

While waiting for a reply I've set up iVMS Client + Storage Server and that's live viewing and recording from the cameras perfectly.

Disable hardware acceleration and see what happens. Also try completely uninstalling and reinstalling...export settings first...

Played around with trying to get 4.4.9.4 working today. Exported settings, completely uninstalled, imported settings back and still had issues. A few times it would load and in the bottom left corner you could see it say that it was going live in 15 seconds and soon as it hit 0, it crashed. Other times it would either not render the live feed or constantly crash in the background (traffic signal yellow to red) and produce a bunch of 0 second clips. Disabled hardware acceleration, but still had issues. Ended up downgrading to an old version.

I had a similar event log on mine as well. Windows Server 2012 R2 with 64 bit Blue Iris.

The graphics adapter is the Intel HD 530, 21.20.16.4534 version driver, and as best I can tell you can't disable hardware acceleration on it.

I don't even get to the end of the 15 second countdown, it crashes immediately upon loading the live feed, so exporting settings isn't on the table.

I've already uninstalled and re-installed everything as mentioned in the OP (I guess I didn't mention the uninstall, but I did that).

hardware accleration is an option that is enabled in blue iris not the graphics adapter...there is a known memory leak in some intel drivers for the 530...

Excellent!

I wonder how acceleration got enabled. I wasn't in that tab when the first crash happened so I couldn't even have done it accidentally and it's not enabled by default. Huh.

Thanks fenderman.

Wait... how did it get enabled the first time I uninstalled and reinstalled? This makes no sense.
