Hi all,

Looking to run a dedicated Blue Iris machine for 7 4mp cams (Hikvision DS-2CD2042WD-I)..
my usual/preferred settings: 22fps, cam setting 20fps, iframe 20.. Direct-to-disc..

Would an i7-4770 with 16mb RAM handle them fine? (don't need to do anything else on the PC)

Thanks for input. just didn't want to go too cheap for the PC!

Welcome to the forum...poor choice of cams...avoid those bullets...look for a turret design...dahua and hikvision both make low light cameras that are much better than those 4mp...dont chase megapixels..
the 4770 will be more than enough

16 mb of RAM you say? :wow:

7x 4 MP cameras at 20 FPS comes out to 7 * 4 * 20 = 560 MP/s which should work fine on i7-4770. If you increased those frame rates to 25 FPS then it would be 700 MP/s and that would be pushing it. I've seen an i7-6700 system fail to cope with that configuration, and despite a couple hours of tinkering I never was able to solve it except by reducing frame rates.
