Trying to add this camera to DVR but it requires an 8 digit password. So it doesn't show up in the DVR. I can log into the camera but cannot view it from my monitor connected to the DVR. Wonder why?

Is it a Dahua NVR?
Is it a PoE NVR ?

Probably the NVR doesn’t know the password so it can’t communicate with it

It is an older Dahua hybrid DVR with a Zyxel PoE switch connected. The login pw for DVR is four characters; the camera login pw is minimum 8 characters. I'm adding cameras; new neighbors are insane and I'm going on a road trip. Maybe you're right and old technology and new are not working. Its the first bullet camera I've owned where the PoE was instantaneous. I had to roll up the power cable; it wasn't needed. Next trick is to access them remotely. Last time I assigning them static addresses in my router and individual ports. I'll try that again.

Then activate the camera firstly use configtool. The Dahua NONE POE NVR/XVR can't add the cam directly.

for dahua nvr if upgraded to version 4, there is a button to initialize camera in the add camera screen.
