As an occasional hobby I'll purchase a used camera 'for parts' when it seems like a good deal and when I believe I can rehab it (and give it to family member or good friend). Here is an example of when my assessment was way off (I had cleaned the lens and the glass when this photo was snapped).

To my amazement the damn camera still worked and I was able to get a fairly clear video feed after cleaning the sensor, swapping out the lens (the before snapshot is attached)!
