Help! We run the rtsp from Dahua cameras through our custom built streaming server which turns the RTSP into HLS for display on all devices.

Has worked great for 2 years but now with the latest Dahua nvr and cameras we have ghosting / artifacts behind motion.

I notice that there is no setting for GOP / i-frame int. in the for the new Dahua cameras in the "encode" area.

It just automatically sets the GOP / I-Fram Int. to twice your FPS.
So if the FPS is set to 15 then it sets the GOP / Iframe int. to 30.

We would love to be able to control the GOP / Iframe Int. number.
Is there a way???

Anyone have any tips on this issue we are having?

When I lower the FPS it does help and the artifacts are less... but they are still there.

Please give any advice you think will help.

Thanks

Sorry! I just found that the NVR does not have the Iframe Int setting BUT when I log right into the camera it is there.

Do you have any suggestions about the Iframe Int setting?

Our HLS is having artifacts behind motion.

By default the Iframe Int is dobule the FPS.

What would you suggest as a top number for Iframe Int? when is it too much?

Thanks!

There is some debate as to Iframe, some, like me, say set it the same as FPS. Others say double FPS.

I Frame Interval is normally missing if you have H.264+, H.265+, or Smart Codec enabled.

Otherwise it should usually be between 1x and 3x the frame rate. Lower values yield less efficient compression but may reduce the negative effects of buggy video players or packet loss.
