Dahua NVR queries

Hi i have a Dahua NVR 4108-8P and have just a couple of questions about it:

• If i lose internet connection, will the dahua continue to record or will it just switch off?
• I forgot my admin password and was wondering if the methods online would work: using the current day and time on the nvr display to login with.
