Hi all,

I have searched google and dahua wiki page but not sure about Dahua NVR 1x, 2x and 4x (i.e DH-NVR2108) which can support SAS drive or not.
Any one has ever tried to put SAS drive (3TB, 4TB, WD or HGST) on Dahua NVR? Is the drive recognised or even work? Or simply does not work at all?

Thanks.

Hi @nhocti

SAS, Serial Attached SCSI, is typically found in higher end servers

SATA will be more popular as it is more cost effective in terms of systems and HDDs

Spec sheets / Data sheets on the particular NVR model should state if it uses SATA or any other storage interface

SAS is very specialised isn’t it and would normally have a special card/hardware. I know some SAS controllers do support SATA drives but I’ve never seen it mentioned the other way.

I’d hazard a guess and say no as if it did I’m sure Duhua would want to promote that as a positive.

I did some more reading on this, it seems that a SAS controller will support SATA drives but a SATA controller won't support SAS drives. So if the controller in some of the high end NVRs has a SAS controller then it will support both types of drives.
