I have an Amcrest (Dahua Rebrand) model IP4M-1053EW PTZ. At night time I have a huge dark area, see pictures below. I believe the wall in front of my house is blocking the IR. If point the PTZ at the dark spot, zoom in I can see the area totally fine. I was thinking about getting the below IR illuminator or a whole new camera (IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E) just for that area. Our street has no street lights. What are your thoughts?

Based on my experience I'd say you need an external IR illuminator on the outside of the wall to see what's past it. The camera adjusts its exposure so the wall isn't overexposed, which results in the rest of the image being underexposed. Same thing happens without a wall because of the IR center hotspot. Things in the middle are visible, and on the edge can't be seen, even though they otherwise have enough light on them to be picked up by the camera. I have a few of my external illuminators angled up quite a bit so they don't illuminate the ground right in front of the camera so much.

I have a 2M model like your camera. To try to improve the lighting, go to Setup/Camera/Configuration/IR Light/Mode=Manual, and adjust the nearLight and farLight. You could also try adjusting the BLC Mode/BLC.
