I'm going to order a system and was looking at the WD Purple hard drives. Noticed that there was two models in the 4TB specs. I'm looking at a 16-20 camera system. Is the N model more suited for this?

the NV series is designed for arrays consisting of 8 disks or more.. if your not using an array that large; there is very little reason to use them.

the only difference is additional hardware to detect and handle resonance vibrations you get from 32 or more platters spinning in close proximity to eachother..

this video illustrates the problem the NV series attempts to handle:

Perfect. Thanks. The WD site was a little vague on the difference. It did say the NV series was designed for NVR's and that's what got me confused.
