Hardware specs for 5-6 IP cameras

Good Afternoon,
Have been reading through the forums and looking to purchase a dedicated machine for BI for 5-6 cameras. I was wondering if the following would fit the bill or it is overkill?

Also was trying to understand if I could push the video off to a NAS device or an attached USB for archiving.

I just built a computer with that same processor for 9 720p cams and my cpu rarely hits 30%. Will you ever add more cams? Always good to have room to grow without upgrades.

That is high for your load...
that pc is more than enough for 6-8 cams..

Is it? I wonder what I'm doing wrong. I have direct to disk on all cams. Recording only on motion and 15 frames per second.

do you have hardware acceleration active? removed discrete video? are you logging in remotely?
