I've made a spreadsheet of cameras. The criteria was 2MP min., 30x zoom, IP dome camera.
In case the excel file wont open, the choices are below, but the excel file will be better; much more data. You can edit the file as well, it will save.

SD6AE230F-HNISD6AL230F-HNISD6C430U-HNSD6C230T-HNSD59230T-HNSD50230T-HNSD6AE530U-HNSD59430U-HNSD50430U-HNSD60230T-HNSD65F230F-HNI

https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=92851C12A817D112!139160&authkey=!ANm3EdwHr2OMBls&ithint=file,xlsx

I will be mounting it on the second floor, under the eaves. I live in a cul-de-sac and want to see the entrance which is about 75m away. I'd like to be able to very clearly see faces and license plates. At night, I have a bright street light directly in front of my house which sometimes washes out images from my cheap foscam.
Not looking for a definitive answer, just help eliminating some of these, or some insight into why some are better than others.
Thanks.

Which part number symbol represents a SD slot with Dahua?

According to my spreadsheet, every one of those listed has an SD slot

Yes i know.

With Hikvision cameras a SD card slot is represented with an F in the part number. Just wondered if Dahua do something similar.

Hi

I've just ordered a SD65F230F-HNI. In perhaps 10 to 15 Days I can say more.

I have a Hikvision Darkfighter (DS-2CD4526FWD-IZH) this should has the same or a very similar sensor. The picture quality of the darkfighter is really great, also the WDR-capability is very good. Now I'm waiting for the Starlight. :)

Anybody know the difference between the three starlight models I listed?
SD6AE230F-HNI, SD6AL230F-HNI, and SD65F230F-HNI

I can see SD6AL230F-HNI is laser and SD65F230F-HNI says it's has ICR and does not list a distance but not sure what other differences there are.

If I feel impulsive and decide to pull the trigger instead of putting way too much thought into this, for the same amount of money (that's already stretching my budget), is there anything better than SD6AL230F-HNI. Might be worth the extra money just to not have to do the research. I tend to put too much time into thinking about things.
Thanks

Hi,

SD6AE230F-HNI: IR
SD6AL230F-HNI: Laser-IR
SD65F230F-HNI: no IR

The SD65F230F-HNI is new. It can tilt -20° to 90° vs. -10° to 90°. Also it is much faster in moving to presets:
Pan: 600°/s vs. 240°/s
Tilt: 500°/s vs. 200°/s

How does the SD65F230F-HNI non IR model perform in low light? It says .002lux in color which is pretty good, but how does that work with no IR? It is a starlight, doesn't that mean its good in low light? If it performs well at night it would be a good compromise I think, especially at $800.

Ive decided on the SD6AE230F-HNI with IR or the SD6AL230F-HNI with Laser. Is greater distance the only benefit of laser? My distance is only 75m. At that distance, will I notice the difference? If not, I'll go with the IR model. Thanks.

I couldn't decide so I went with the SD6AL230F-HNI. Go big or go home! It's supposed to arrive Monday. Once I get it hooked up, Ill maybe Ill make some videos showing it off. Do these normally come with power supplies or am I going to need to source my own? Any recommendations for a 24vac 4a reliable supply? I don't need POE. Running power will be pretty easy in the location I'm planning.

Good to hear. How well does it work in the dark with no IR? It's a starlight so I assume pretty well? Any nighttime screenshots?
Thanks

Hi,

it works very good. On pitch black you need ir, but with very little light it produces color images. The brightness of streetlights is much more than the cam needs.

I love the exmor-sensor. Its 120db wdr is great. You can not compare it with the 120db wdr of cheaper sensor, the sony is much better.

On autotracking the cam sounds like r2d2 of starwars, thats not sooo good. ;-)

I can post pictures later.

Does this camera require only the PFB303W wall mount bracket to attach to, or does it also require the PFA111 mount adapter? The picture of the cam is not detailed enough to be sure, and it looks like the top of the camera is *not* threaded to directly attach the PFB303W. Am I correct in this? Or will both parts be needed to mount it?

I received my SD6AL230F-HNI yesterday. It, too, had both parts included. I rigged it up temporarily, in the house, looking through a window. Great night vision with just street lights. I don't think I will end up using the laser IR. This camera was $400 more than the non IR model. I probably could have saved myself the money. We'll see for sure when I get it permanently mounted and it's not looking through glass.
Mine also sounds like R2D2. Should be high enough that nobody will notice. We'll see!

Could you check the power consumption of your cam? My needs 28W without IR.
