Hello,

I have bought 3 cameras, IPC-HDW5231R-Z, and a TP-Link T1600G-28PS PoE+ switch.

The default ip for the IPC-HDW5231R-Z camera is 198.168.1.108, so I have set the vlan1 network on TP-Link T1600G-28PS to 198.168.1.0 / 255.255.255.0. The switch/gateway is 198.168.1.1. Static ip of a PC is 198.168.1.2. Using this PC, I am able to connect to the TP-Link switch's web management interface and I see the PC's ip with the MAC address on ARP table. So, I believe the network is configured properly.

Next, I connect the IPC-HDW5231R-Z to the TP-Link switch with a Cat 5 ethernet cable. The POE light indicator of the port is on, and it shows up on the POEConfig table of the TP-Link switch. But, I don't see any ip associated with the camera's MAC address on the ARP table. And 198.168.1.108 is inaccessible from the pc as well as from the switch through ping.

What am I missing? I would really appreciate some advise how to troubleshoot...

Thanks,
Alper

You have to configure first the camera. After that you can set MAC Address in your ARP table...

Your description of your setup is clear and seems to be correct.
The assumption, which is reasonable, is that the camera is using the normal default IP address.
Assuming the camera has powered up and started OK, it may be that it is not on the usual default IP address.
Are there any other MAC addresses in the ARP list that could be the camera?
Do you have the Dahua 'Device Config' tool on the PC? ConfigTool - Dahua Wiki
I haven't used this myself - but I understand that, unlike Hikvision's SADP tool, you do need to configure it with the target network address before it will find any cameras.

Hi,

I just bought TP-LINK TL-PoE150S PoE Injector Adapter:

Then, I connect each of the cameras directly to the pc with this PoE adapter one by one, and changed the ips accordingly.
Finally, I connect the PC and all the cameras to TP-Link T1600G-28PS PoE+ switch. Now, everything works fine.
I think I should be able to configure everything with the TP-Link T1600G-28PS PoE+ switch, I don't know what I did wrong...

Thanks for the replies...
