Hi everyone and thanks for having me.

I’m a electrician and security installer.

But I’m struggling to work out a good solution to what seems to me a problem that shouldn’t exist!

I’m installing a home cctv system for myself and I have chosen to use these cameras...

These cameras come with a built in junction box...

Nice!

However unfortunately I would like to use a microphone with this camera and also use Poe with a hikvision NVR.

Problem is the line in on the camera is what it says...line in!

I have tried unpowered mics to no avail and also entered the cameras settings using IVMS on a pc and the audio setting for
line in cannot be changed to mic in as some
Can be

So I’m just looking for some advice on what to do?

Obviously I can use a small 12v powered cctv mic and pull another cable in and replace the RCA end with a 3.5m and such...

But I can’t help thinking there must be someone with a better idea!?

So...answers on postcards people, what’s my options?

Cheers!

What would you recommend?

As in the picture I have a cheap and cheerful powered mic but is there anything a bit better or more suitable?

Cheers

That looks like a nice mic!

Looks like it’s pretty hard to get over here in the UK though
