Hikvision - 7616NI-E2/16P v 7616NI-E2

Hi All,

Just about to pull the trigger on a NVR and cannot work out what the difference between the two are

DS-7616NI-E2/16P - Embedded plug and play NVR
DS-7616NI-E2 - Embedded NVR

What does the plug and play version do, or do I need it?

I believe the 8P or 16P is the number of PoE ports on each PVR, with various configurations available

Is it worth buying the UK/Aus version rather than Chinese one? Only limit seems to be not being able to update firmware

This will be for a home system.
Currently thinking about using one of the following cameras
DS-2CD2132F-IS (3MP dome)
DS-2CD2332/2335 (3MP EXIR)

Also looking at purchasing from either
- Aliexpress $315USD Inc Shipping - 8P
Ebay $320 USD inc Shipping - 8P

16P models are more expensive

I'm in Australia if that makes any difference

yes the xxP means number of PoE ports on the NVR, if you do not need the PoE ports then you you can go for the cheaper NVR.

I ended up going with something different all together

Went with the higher end DS-7716N-E4/16P
16 POE ports so lots of extra upgrades if needed and 2 extra drive bays.

Currently in shipping so will have to wait and see what it is like
