First of all best wishes for 2018!

Looking forward to another year of good posts here with lots of things to learn and to laugh about. I've been reading on this forum for quite some time now and I thought I'd take the time to show you guys my setup.

I live in the Netherlands and when we bought our house in 2015 it still had to be built so I requested wall-outlets in every room and a couple extra in the living room. When it was build I ran the CAT6 and COAX cables from the wall-outlets to the wiring closet myself. At first I only had a 24 port managed HP switch but the more I got in to IP camera's and Ubiquiti Unifi stuff the more POE I needed. So I switched to an all Unifi network setup last year.

Here are some pictures of the network: (click for larger resolution)

For my camera setup I started with two Hikvision DS-2CD2542FWD-IWS with 2.8mm lenses for the front and backyard. I quickly found out that I have to use hallway mode to for the best result and that the nighttime picture isn't that good on these camera's. Luckily there is a lot of light in the nighttime so I can disable the infrared and leave them on day mode all the time. Recently I bought a Hikvision DS-2DE3304W-DE to keep an eye on the gate, the parking lot and the rest of the backyard not captured by the other camera. I'm still playing around with the settings of this camera, but from what I've seen so far it is much better quality camera than the other two. All camera's are on a separate vlan without connection to the internet and all use an internal 128 GB SD card to store the captured footage. To remotely view footage I dial in using a VPN connection.

Looks good overall, but I like to see more space between data wiring and electrical power.

Thank you for having a fire extinguisher in your wiring closet. So many people do not think about fire safety when wiring up a home for data and cameras.

Admittedly I don't know the laws of the NL so perhaps you are required to have that extinguisher in your closet because of the electrical wiring, but either way I am impressed it is in there.

I agree, that would have been better. But given the confined space this was the only mounting option for the patchrack.

Thanks! The extinguisher is not mandatory. I put it there so that it is out of sight but still closeby in case of a fire.
