Hi all

I have purchased one of these cameras and apparently it already has a built in mic as the cameras has the Audio in\out pig tale along with the POE and Alarm pig tales.

What cable would i need to hook it up?

The 2132is does not have a built in mic...http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2014101515575593722.pdf
you need to connect a mic to it
Only the 2532 IS is available with a mic. See this post for instruction.

Hi thanks for that

The pig tale on the cam is an Audio in and audio out on the same pig tale, am i to assume the mic will be fairly shot and got to the audio in and then the audio out will go back to the NVR?

What passive pics are recommended?

The audio out is not for the nvr, its for the speaker you can attached (must be powered)...
On the other hikvision cams you can use a passive mic so presumable on this one as well. Check my post here http://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php?1949-Help-with-Sound-on-Hikvision-DS-2CD2732F-I(S)-camera there is a radio shack mic for 4 bux that should work.
Hi Fenderman

Thank you for you help on this, just so i have it right

The mic is placed near the cam and hooked up to the pigtale of the cam, the audio is transmitted back to the NVR via the network connection along with the video?

I assume this is the mic you are referring too?

Yes. Assuming this camera is like the others and it can accept a mic in (unpowered) as well as a line in (powered mic)...

No worries :)

I used one of these mic's http://www.aliexpress.com/item/3-5mm-CS-Y0003-External-Microphone-Mic-for-Car-DVD-Stereo-Radio-Player-HeadUnits-Free-Shipping/2031402381.html from Aliexpress on my DS-2CD2632F-I(S). No need for an amp or external power supply.

I also have DS-2CD2132F-IS, but haven't tried the mic on that. Its the same connector so should work fine. I'll give it ago in the next few days and let you know now it goes.

Works fine, no difference between DS-2CD2632F-I(S) or DS-2CD2132F-IS. The plug wiring and software settings are the same between the two models.

I posted this on another thread, but thought it usefully to add here too.

I bought a mic for my ds-2cd2132f-is over the front door , and then wrecked the mic trying to split the wires. Then I spotted my pile of old xbox360 headsets. Snapped the mic arm off and wired it in. Works fantastically. I can hear people talking on the street 40 feet away. Added benefit of the arm fits perfectly in the cutout on the rim of the cam, is adjustable, and has a muffler on to reduce wind noise.

Do you know about "professional" mic, which will be smaller and use the hole as in photo?

Most of the microphones available on AE for CCTV are active and require +12vdc. Anyone know if it is possible to tap off the POE in the camera to get a +12vdc supply for active mics?
