Hikvision DS-7616NI-E2 with Dahua Cameras

Hi all

I have the Hikvision DS-7612NI-E2 NVR and a couple of the Dahua 4831-EMP-ASE cameras, i am trying to use the motion detection setting on the camera and have it record on the Hikvision NVR, the detection works on the camera but the NVR is not recording anything. If the NVR was set to record continuously it does without any issues.

Any ideas guys?

Assuming that you have the camera connected as an ONVIF device, it would be worth confirming that it is generating ONVIF event notifications on motion.
An easy way to check this is by querying the camera with ONVIF Device Manager from sourceforge.net
Check out Events in the Events page, and available analytics in the Rules page.

I'm not familiar with that specific camera or it's (unspecified) firmware version, but it's not uncommon for the ONVIF capabilities to be disabled by default.
This could be checked in the camera web GUI.
