I am setting up 16 camera and with an NVR. My current plan is to use all HikVision products for that.

This is in a large building (1000ft X 270ft) with cameras spread around. The NVR will be in the server room, far away from where the monitors need to be. The NVR is used for multi-day recording.

Can the IVMS-4200 software be installed on a PC, placed wherever in the building, and point to the NVR for cameras to view live? Is that possible?

How do people do this type of setup?

Nice, and thank you for the response. Over the past couple years I have seen IE and WinXP being banned from networks. As long as 4200 works, that's what I need.

if you want to view it in the same building....get a hdmi over cat6 adapter and a usb over cat6 adapter. so you can view in your office.

That’s another cool idea. Less hardware too.

But the stations may be 800 ft away from the server room.
