Looks like Hikvision has released it's new 4MP camera's, and looking at the specs they are amazing! 0.01lux at 4MP (down from 0.07lux at 3MP) and 2688×1520 resolution (up from 2048×1536).

I've already sent Julia Li a message, I'd love to get my hands on a few of these new 4MP camera's. The 0.01lux is what make these great, 0.07lux in low light scenarios is really not cutting it, whereas 0.01lux does wonders.

Too bad networkcameracritic isn't among us anymore to review these, I'd love to have read a full review of him of these new camera's.

I was hoping they would announce 4k cameras, not 4 MP ...

Still, if the price is right these are probably good enough to replace my flakey chinese 5 MP cameras.

@Dutchie30 Nice find...I hope the better low light performance pans out...that is what these high MP cams are lacking...
The DS-2CD2142FWD-I (W)(S) notes a motorized pan and tilt though i dont know how they are doing that with the dome and ir inside the dome without bleed issues...might be spec error..
The 4mp turret is nice but its disappointing that they didnt add audio and alarm to it...
Let us know if you hear back on availability..
If you really want super low light capability then the darkfigher cams will be the best

The are probably very expensive though...

The 0.01 LUX sounds encouraging. I'm also intrigued by the "120db WDR". Apparently these have "true" wide dynamic range, instead of the "digital WDR" that the 3mp cams had....In the past, the 120db True WDR was limited to the higher end professional grade models. I've never tried the pro models with true WDR to know how much added benefit this is over the digital WDR, but hopefully this will be a noticeable improvement with shadows.

Interesting to note that advanced motion detection like line crossing is not mentioned in the cheaper cameras..

so tempting, be interesting to see the price on them when they become avilable. i have a hikvision 5mp that i paid a small fortune for and its day permance is only marginally better than the 3mp 2032s, and its night performance is marginally worse then the 2032s.

They also have some new 3mp box cams that will do B/W: 0.0005 Lux, Color: 0.005 Lux, 45FPS (DS-2CD4035FWD), waiting to hear back from some dealers when they will have them.

Do you know if the Hikvision NVR's support 45FPS recording?

Good question, I am not sure, my 7816 NVR does 30fps from both the main and sub from my DS-4024F cam with no problem
but not sure if it will handle anything higher than 30FPS, need to find out.

Hard to say; for all we know they could hit the market months from now at double or triple the price of the 3MP versions... which would be disappointing to say the least.

Alright @milkisbad how much and when?! :D In all seriousness I'll buy some of the DS-2CD2042WD-I as soon as you get some to test. Let me know! I'd be interested in the turret options too.

I hope that there is a better processor, more memory and a faster bus because the current system cannot handle 3MP at times and recordings skip over some of the action, Ambrella A9 or H1 perhaps.

If you're in the market now, I'd buy now.

It's not like these will be night and day better than the 3MP. I'm not saying I don't want one--and I'm happy they are keeping the turret form factor--but these are evolutionary only. 3->4 MP is a nice to have and depending on install you may not really benefit from the better low light.
