I ordered an HP Elitedesk Intel i5 3,2GHz due to suggestions here and now running BI on it as a standalone machine, though I see Blue Iris supports cuda. I have an ASUS GeForce GT 630 2GB Silent PhysX and an
ASUS Radeon HD 6450 1GB DDR3 Silent - will any of those cards be a benefit for BI?

Most of the threads I've seen about CUDA sum up that while it works, it takes more power (electricity) to run those cards vs just using the built-in Intel QuickSync feature.

Seems like those cards get handy when your Blue Iris machine is directly connected to a 4K display... they can help drive that display better. My Blue Iris PC isn't connect to a display, so I've never messed with that.

So in other words a complete waste and I can rather use them for plex transcoding?

I don't have any experience with them, so I'll wait for someone else to better answer your last question. But from what I've read, that's what it sounds like.
