I have a budget of ~$300 to spend on an IP camera and maybe an NVR. I read here that the Dahua Starkight is highly recommended. Is it correct that no NVR is required for these cameras, that they record directly to an SD card? If I wanted, could I add an NVR in the future? Or, is it possible to get an inexpensive 2 or 4 channel NVR. At this time, I don't need more than 2 channels max.

Also, for the PoE, will any router be able to provide sufficient power, or is a certain type required? If I'm only recording to the SD without an NVR, could I simply power the camera with a switch or old router that has no internet connectivity?

Sorry for the basic questions.

Search here is your friend.

You need a POE switch or POE injector.

Yes, they will record to an SD card.
