Hi Everyone,

I'd appreciate recommendations on camera placement and some suggestions on specific camera models.

I have a small server rack in my garage with a PC running Blue Iris, so all the Cat 5/6 will be routed back to a POE switch in the garage.

We've been having some problems in our neighborhood lately with vehicle break-ins, items being taken from open garages (while residents are in backyard, etc) so protecting against that is my goal.

I haven't been hit yet, but I'd rather be proactive rather than wait until after an incident.

Thanks everyone.

Learn how to use this: Camera Calculator / Design Software keep PPF >100, tutorial upper left.
You want to know who did it, not just what happened.
Don't mount cams higher than 8ft.

Looking for some advice and direction!

This is basic self defense based ideas, don't leave the garage door open and show the world what goodies you have for the taking. Always lock car doors every-time you get out of them. Keep doors on your home locked at all times. Whether you are home or not.

There is no such thing as "but it's a nice neighborhood".

You can't predict in advance when you might fall and break an arm, you also can't predict when a bad guy will show up.

Cameras won't necessarily stop a bad guy, but at least you will have evidence.
