my Hikvision IP camera was dead (so I thought) after reading the post on this forum about short circuit etc.
Amazingly my POE switch was not damaged...
Because I didn't properly protected the connectors against water, the power and rj45 connectors were submerged for several days.
I bought another cam and just before taking apart the 'broken' cam I replaced the RJ45 connector and low and behold: the camera did function like new!
I think my Ubiquity POE switch did protect the IP cam and itself! They apparently have a very good protection circuit.
The RJ45 connector was scourged so I didn't expect this at all.
The reason I want to tell this is that buying good equipment will pay off in several ways...
