So I have a PM in to Andy today about this isuue
I just got 2 IPC-HDW5231R-ZE
One is on the garage giving me a nice long shot of the driveway.
Problem is , I cant get the cam to trip an image from the farthest or top most of the video.
I have BI5 and am also FTP from the Cam to my Server
No matter how i set the region up. on both BI and the FTP image i cant trip motion at the top half of the image.

I had a Hickvision DS-2CD2132-I in the same location, no issues with it tripping on cars going by at the top of the image.
Im debating swapping the the porch camera and the driveway cam to see if the issue follows the cam
curious if anyone else has seen a similar issue with this cam?
Greg
In the pic anything above the corvette will not trip an alarm or event

I moved this thread to BI troubleshooting. This is not a camera issue.
Post your motion settings. Also post your video tab from the camera itself.

Are you using an IVS tripwire on the camera for the “ftp from the camera” part?

I use the settings on the camera. But no IVS and no facial. Just the region section on the cam for motion. Cam trips fine on the lower half of image. Just won't trip on top half. FTP images verify the issue.

To clarify you are not using BI motion detection at all?

I just upgraded to BI5 from BI3 and swapped some cameras out.
So in a sense yes I first noticed the issue in BI when I installed the new cameras.

I also use the internal cam motion settings to FTP incidents to a separate server. (im OCD)

After looking at those recordings or lack of. The issue appeared to come from the CAM itself
So for now I am trouble shooting with the FTP images.
Figured if I get that to work then BI should also work

It is still unclear to me.
Blue iris has its own motion detection and can also use the cameras. Which one are you using for blue iris?

Im confused as well.
I have the cam set to see motion and send the file FTP
I also set BI to see motion and trip an alert
I suppose I can turn off the motion sensing in the cam and see if BI responds better

Blue iris motion detection just analyzes the stream so you have something going on with your settings. Post the requested settings. This is a setup issue not a camera issue.

settings for cam
If I move the slider all the way left on both, I will get an alert 3/4 of the way up the driveway
But it will not trigger on its own beyond that
I will need to read more on the BI settings as Looney stated

Your make time is very low set it to at least 0.5. Now uncheck object travels (pixels) and test again.

no love
I added a little larger pic.on the time line you can see me trip coming out of the front door
But nothing on the Drive cam
I will disable motion on the cam itself and see if that helps with these settings

Disabling motion on the Cam made no diff
Only moving both sliders to the left helps. But that all the way to the left, and then it only pics up motion 3/4 of the way down the drive

If you’re using basic Motion Detection on the camera, I’d suggest setting the Smart Plan to IVS, go into IVS, add a new rule (Intrusion), draw a box that covers the area that you’re interested in, and then select both the Enters and Appears options. IVS is essentially advanced Motion Detection and usually performs more reliably than basic Motion Detection.

Post images of you video settings in the camera itself, also lower the object size.
There is no way both blue iris and the camera cannot detect the motion. They are completely independent. All blue iris needs is the feed itself. Delete the camera in blue iris and start over.
Also remember some settings are profile dependent. Remember to have the shield/traffic signal(bi4) on green.
