Wait, it's on a mobile pole? Is the camera mounted all the way on the top and zoomed in all the way?

Is this car parked on the street or is it parked in a open parking structure looking down? Those images look great. I have mine mounted on a 9ft. light pole looking out to the street and trying to achieve your results with this camera.

I have mine 20 ft high, and on the street. the pic is for reference.
I do not know the code in CA, some states allow cameras to be installed on light poles for security reason, if city needs to view the footage for any reason they will have the authority to do so.

Good results on identification. Is there a subscription service to this as I presume it uses a cloud based database to identify or is it a free service or locally hosted database?

It runs on the camera. There was another thread several months ago about the same camera from a guy complaining about how bad it performed. May want to search around.

The camera/nvr firmware was used for anpr. Local service
You can certainly use 3rd party. OPENALPR use metadata to read license plates.
