folks - I'm going with a new system that will be 10 8MP cameras at 30FPS and need 30 days storage. Can you take a look at this system and advise? Or maybe post your own link with a recommended system on dell/amazon/ebay really appreciate it! There isn't really a budget and I'm buying for someone who would prefer new

Look at the link below for systems that are running a similar load.
Blue Iris Update Helper

It is the MP/SEC that determines the real load. a simple estimate is 10 cameras, 8 MP at 30 FPS. that is 2400 MP/SEC.

The indication is you will need i9-7980 or an i7-6950 or a similar CPU

Use PassMark Software - CPU Benchmark Charts to look for similar CPUs.

Storage is dependent upon a lot of variables, black and white (night) is less than color (day). Motion is more than static, simple (single stucco color wall) is less than complex ( a lot or trees, flowers, sky, clouds), video compression type.

Storage estimate per 8MP camera per hour is 4 to 7 GB. Worse case 48 TB of storage. (24 hours x 30 days x 10 cameras x 7GB) /1024

You need a very big budget or lower your expectations.

note most if not all 8 MP cameras are pure crap at night, they are ok for inside.

how do I bring down storage requirements? Change to 15fps is one, what else? I'm ok with 7 days of retention since I'll be using cloud snapshots with blueiris sending motion detection images to the cloud

Thx
