So this is what I'm currently getting..

Just is too blurry to pick up the actual plate. Should I zoom in?
Or is it more a settings thing?

Go to CBR and 8192 bitrate to start.

Match FPS and iframes.

Smart Codec off.

H264

Do not have a big range for gain. For daytime try like 0-35

But if you have room to zoom, do so, zoom is good LOL.

Have someone stop a car in that field of view and focus to that point. At the amount we zoom in, focus will be off as autofocus may pick something on either side of the street to decide to focus on and when you zoom in tight, the depth field shrinks, so then the plate would be out of focus.

Here are my nighttime settings to get you started/close:

You need to get the focus for B/W while it is still light out or it will hunt all night for something to focus onto and then be blurry.

It is best to stop a car in the field of view and focus to the plate.

Thanks, I might have to do that tonight. My neighbors will be a bit confused, but it'll be worth it. Just changed to h264 and cbr. Hopefully that clears it up during the daytime.

Make sure you up the bitrate.

Yeah, many of us get that neighbor wondering what is going on LOL.

I was helping a member here once on TeamViewer dial in his settings and his wife was out driving the car and a newer neighbor that didn't know them approached her to see what was going on LOL.

Did some testing and I zoomed it in a little after getting these. and changed the angle more to the right. But might change it back.

Thanks! I'll give those a shot. Where do you get the exact zoom and focus variables?

And make sure you change the speed to 1 - otherwise it will be rounding and then you will never get the right number to set it to.

That is more than likely IR bounce glare, but you will be zoomed in for plate capture, so this view doesn't really matter LOL.

Weird. Didn't have this problem last night with the IR. I should take this time to update firmware.
