M1065-L vs. M3105-L image quality?

I have these two cameras and despite ensuring that the quality settings are the same, the M3105-L has much better image quality. The brightness level is dark on the M1065-L and when trying to boost it, it gets very grainy. It also seems to generally have less resolution both with natural and infrared light.

The basic question is should the two match in image quality? I had the impression they should.

Thanks for any advice. I am wondering if I should pursue getting a replacement camera.
