My client has Milesight NVR MS-N5016-UT.

How can we get RTSP stream out from the NVR? In the settings RTSP is mentioned and there is a port 554 for it as a default.
I have tried with VLC but it just gives an error. When trying directly to all Milesight cameras connected with that NVR, RTSP works perfectly.
Do we need to set some more permissions or does the URL need to be special?

In NVR manual RTSP is mentioned but there is no further instructions how to use it..

Thanks for that, but it's not any of those URLs. NVR has RTSP-port but no instructions how to connect. I have also asked Milesight support but they do not bother to reply.

  1. What specifically is the URL you're using for the camera that DOES work?
  2. What specifically is the URL you're using for the NVR that does NOT work?

1. With Milesight camera(s), I can get RTSP stream out with VLC player (and OBS and Ipcamlive) with URL rtsp:/user:credential@192.168.1.10/main
2. Same URL than in 1. does not work, also without /main or /sub. There is no other URL's suggested on that iSpy page for Milesight devices.

Hello

It is maybe a little belated, but the manual for my recorder (MS-N1004-UPC) states the following:

RTSP Port
Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) is an application layer protocol in TCP/IP protocol system.
The default RTSP port is 554. Please modify RTSP port according to actual application.
Note:
1. RTSP port is used for remote network live view.
2. RTSP port valid range is 554 or 1024~65535.
3. The RTSP format of Milesight NVR is “rtsp:/IP:RTSP port/ch_xxx”.
1 IP: The IP address of NVR;
2 RTSP port: The default RTSP port is 554;
3 ch_xxx: The first number of xxx represents stream type, 1 for main stream and 4 for sub
stream. The last two represents channel number, which start from ‘00’ (‘00’ means channel 1).
Take ‘rtsp:/192.168.8.179:554/ch_402’ as an example:
The IP address of NVR is 192.168.8.179.
The RTSP port is 554.
The stream type is sub stream and the channel number is 3.
I am having no issues streaming to VLC with the URL of rtsp:/192.168.0.240:554/ch_100 for channel1. I must type in the username and password manually.

Maybe the same will work for you?

This indeed works: rtsp:/192.168.0.240:554/ch_100 - and for camera 2 it's /ch_101, etc. However this only gives the main stream, is there any way to access the sub stream?

Have you tried 102 ?
Yes - that shows primary stream of camera 3 (100 = main camera 1, 101 = main camera 2, 102 = main camera 3, etc). My question is how to access the sub stream of each of those?

I understand your question, but am unaware of what combos you've already tried...such as 211, 200, 121, etc.
I don't use Milesight so I can't state what to use for sure.
I tried about 200 different combos with things like /101/sub and /101_2, /201, /sub/101, etc, etc. I think this is more of a question for someone that has a Milesight recorder or API and could share what the correct path is :)

OK, my last post about this...
Did you expand and read post #6 above from @AJNQML ?
