I've been given the task of getting a cheap Chinese NVR set up and running. It proved to be nowhere near as bad as I was anticipating. The Besder nvr worked right out of the box along with 2 Besder cams. A 3rd Hik camera eventually yielded and that works as well. Xmeye worked once I figured out how to. Documentation could be better. The software will take a bit more time to familiarize with.

I have 2 vga flatsceen monitors to choose from. A Viewsonic VA1931wma and a old Compaq FP7317. I first connected the Compaq. It displayed on 1920 x 1080 but part of the picture is cut off on the left side. Then I tried the newer looking Viewsonic but it displayed a message "out of range".
What's the best I can hope for? Should I advise a better monitor, perhaps HDMI.? Is it all about resolution?
Thanks.
