NAS storage issues

I am having 2 issues configuring the NAS (Qnap) storage for some hikvision cameras.
- The first is 2x cameras are not using all the available freespace (NFS ver2/3 - not sure which user, I assume guest)
- The second is that one camera won't initialise (hikvision "format") the space - it was working till I started tweaking to make it use all the freespace.

I have 4 hikvisions, 2x 8MP turret and 2x5MP bullets. No issues with the bullets, they have been recording away for the last 10+ days.
They all access the NAS is the same way.
I am using NFS as I kept getting Device Error when I tried SMB/CIFS (regardless of the quota size).
The turrets only manage 4 days despite having plenty of freesace remaining.

I tried re-initialising the NAS storage thinking this may help, it didin't!
Now when I format the space it gives the impression it has worked but once the folder size reaches approx 980MB it fails and becomes unitialised again.

I am using NFS and there should be no quota limit... is it the guest user?

All cameras have the latest firmware from Nov/Dec.
The NAS has the latest firmware too.

Any pointers for either issue would be appreciated

Does each camera have it's own share volume?
That's necessary, or the NetHDD storage capability will fail.

The turrets only manage 4 days despite having plenty of freesace remaining.
It's not so much free space that's important, as the volume size that has a ceiling value, depending on the camera firmware version.

I setup a single share on a 2TB drive. The share has 4 folders, 1 for each of the cameras.
Each camera reports a drive size of 1.7TB
Firmware is V5.5.80, Build 180911

That should be OK, then, no common filespace.

I've not used NetHDD on that version of firmware, but it sounds like it has removed some of the volume size constraints that the earlier firmware was subject to.

Looks like I have it working again...

Not sure if the 200GB limit is still an issue with this firmware but I'm using h.265 so ~200GB is plenty for 7-8 days continuous recording.

To get it working I created a dedicated share for a single camera.
Setup a Username/Password with R/W access for this share.

I then followed 2 tips from users on the forum.
At least one of these was the key to getting up and running again.
I set the quota to 199GB and created a sub-folder in the share.
The hidden files in the root of the share apparently cause an issue for the hikvision format command...

I used a 95% ratio when formatting. Doubt this had any impact.
It's been working away for the last hour!!

I gave up on NFS as I just could not getting that working again.

A follow up.
I can't seem to get the turrets to record more than 4 days.
There is lots of free space so it can't be that?

I noticed that the datadir0 folder is the only one being used - all the mp4's are in use (256MB each).
datadir1 and datadir2 were created but never used - all the mp4's are 0MB.
There are records in the logs dating from last week

Any ideas?

Another update.
The turrets (2x 2CD2385) were in fact using the firmware version 5.5.82 (Build 181211), dated "2018-12-27"
I rolled back the firmware to 5.5.80 and the cameras now appear to be working correctly!
Conclusion is do not use 5.5.82 - G1 platform (H.265 DS-2CD2XX5,2XX3,3XX3,3XX5,XM67X6)

Hi,

Same problem here, datadir1 and datadir2 are never used, i am using the last firmware 5.6.0.
Only datadir0 is used.
What was the solution to record more that 2 days (in my case) and use datadir1 and datadir2 please ?

I am using CIFS (over samba) shares. i have 5 cameras, 5 shares (on per camera) and a single user (the same for all cameras).

Thanks.
