Hello,
i am a software developer from germany and new in the ip cam world. We are living in a very save area but more security = more fun :).

My problem is that i have no Idee how a can place cameras and how many i need. We have not the smallest house. My first thought was to put a camera on each side but i think than i dont get any usefull ids.

At the moment i think its best to place a good camera on each house side and a cheap one inside in every room with a window. If the outdoor cameras detects any motion i can fire on the hue lights in the room. The indoor camera than has good light for id shoots.

What do you think is and good placement?

The cameras i think will work great are:
- IPC-HDW5231R-ZE (Turret)
- IPC-HDW5231R-Z (Turret)
- IPC-HFW5231E-Z5 (Bullet)

Can i place turrets flat on outside wall or is this bad idea?

Thanks.

There is a lot of good advice in the “Cliff Notes” linked in my signature, but using a camera indoors through glass to see outdoors is not recommended.

You can mount the turret cameras directly on the wall because the eyeball will adjust, however you probably have a lot of rain due (Germany), you might be better off with the Dahua wall mounts to give it some protection from the rain.
