I just bought the full version of Blue Iris and i'm trying to connect to an AXIS P3301 Fixed Dome IP Camera. I can't even view a live feed. :sad2: I'd also like to know how to set up being able to view my feed from external sources. Any help?

Thanks,
Roy

Welcome to the forum. Are you able to view the cameras web interface using a browser? The first step is finding the cameras ip address. Use this utility http://www.axis.com/techsup/software/iputility/
Then make sure the ip address is within your routers range...so if your router is at 192.168.1.1 your camera should have the 192.168.1.X with X being 1-150 for example...you need to set this address to be static...you can do this from the router by using dhcp reservation/static ip...
Once you have that info, in blue iris select axis m/p/q series h.264 (not mpeg) from the drop down in the video tab (camera properties>video>configure)
enter the ip address, user name and password....
as far as the remote viewing see the end of this thread http://www.ipcamtalk.com/showthread.php?1442-Purchase-Full-Version&p=13001#post13001

Fenderman, you got me on the right track already. I can now view from within the Blue Iris console. Now I am off to figure out external viewing.

Thanks,
Roy

Fenderman and anyone else who may view this,

So I got my Blue Iris software to work and I can view my camera just fine from the laptop I have the software installed on. I am unable to view my camera from any internal source, such as a laptop in another room and so far I have had no joy connecting with any devices externally. I am beginning to get frustrated but I really want this to work so I am willing to keep forging forward.

Thanks,
Roy

First step is getting the internal viewing working..im assuming you mean viewing the cam via blue iris..
Blue iris options> webserver> enable> set the port to something other than 80..say 8585...
Then Blue iris options> users set up a simple user name(for testing), like test and 1234 for the password
Then from any other machine log in via the local lan addrses for example 192.168.1.144:8585 if the ip address of the blue iris machine is 192.168.1.144 and you set the port to 8585...

ok...I'll even add in the particulars so we can get this working. Right now I have the BI on Dell laptop with the internal IP of 192.168.1.7 and I am using port 81. We can work on external later. When I go to a completely different laptop, with IP of 192.168.1.3 and I type into my IE browser address bar http:192.168.1.7:81 it does a search for about 20 seconds then returns the error, "This page cant be displayed". When I test from my iPad which has IP of 192.168.1.10 returns the error "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding". As an added side note, I can view the camera from all three devices using the camera's IP which is 192.168.1.90 in IE on the laptop and Safari on the iPad.

make sure to add the forward slashes http:// or try without the http....just the ip address and port... post a screenshot of your webserver pages (redact you external ip address only)...
Have your set up a user name?
Also disable any firewalls just for testing...

Thats because when you dont type http IE does a search rather than go to the page..regardless..post a screenshot of your blue iris webserver page.

Does the webserver come up if you it the globe on the blue iris machine? third button from left at top left of main screen

You should redact your external ip address from the image in the last post.
What firewall are you using windows? or third party?

Yes, the web server comes up if I click the globe button. Lists the machine name:81/jpegpull.htm in the address bar. I have McAfee on this machine as my antivirus and Windows Firewall.

can you ping the blue iris machine from any of those devices? You might want to go to windows network settings and allow other machines to see this computer...
Are you running on the same network and not on say a guest wifi that separates the networks?

Yes, I can ping the Blue Iris Machine from the other laptop. They are all on the same internal Verizon FIOS network. The BI machine is wired, and the other laptop is wireless. As a side note, I've been an IT guy for about 20 years so I am very familiar with networking and computers and I am completely stumped.

I am also a new user of Blue Iris and I'm having the same issue with a ISmart 8013DN2 IP camera. I also have a HooToo211HD that Blue Iris detected and is working great. I can see the ISmart camera IP 192.168.1.x on the attached devices list on my Netgear Blackhawk router with an IP 192.168.x.x. I'm not sure what port is being used. The ISmart camera model I have is not listed in the Blue Iris dropdown list and I didn't get much help from Blue Iris tech support to see if this camera is compatible, even though a different ISmart model is on the list. I have used a couple of different IP camera finders and verified the IP address above. I've allowed Blue Iris on the windows firewall. I would appreciate any suggestions you have.

@vrop, welcome to the forum..it looks like that camera is a wanscam/foscam/polaroid clone http://www.amazon.com/Wanscam-HW0028-MegaPixel-Wireless-Outdoor/dp/B00HQF0I6I/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1416356254&sr=8-2&keywords=wanscam+wireless+720p+ptz
use the wanscam hw0028 from the list and see if it works...
Also this http://www.amazon.com/Polaroid-IP810ZW-Wireless-Automatic-Detection/dp/B00LV8M31O/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1416356560&sr=8-8&keywords=foscam+wireless+720p+ptz
you can also the inspect button...
Make sure you have the correct user name and passwords entered...
You can also download ipcamviewer for androiod / ios by robert chou and that lets you scan for camera maker and see if any compatible models are on the blue iris list.
As an aside these cams are all junk...there are better options around ..what are you using the camera for?

Thanks for your response. I tried the other cameras you suggested, including use of the inspect button, but to no avail. I'm really quite frustrated with this camera. I am using the camera for the front of the house and driveway for both at home and remote viewing when I travel. I am interested in any other suggestions you have for making this camera work with Blue Iris (it does work with the IP Camera Super Client, but the software capability is weak, especially for remote). I would also be interested in suggestions for a more reliable choice of camera. I recently retired and though I'm fairly competent with computers and networks, this IP camera thing is new to me.

have you tried downloading ipcamviewer and using its scan function?...have you triple checked the port numbers, user name and password?

As far as alternate cameras, consider two fixed cameras over a ptz, you will have 24/7 full time coverage over a greater area..yes you can setup various sensors to pan the camera, but unless you are up to that task the fixed cameras are a better choice...Hikvision cameras are my preference...if you give your requirements then i could recommend a model (the cost is about 85-250 depending on model and place of purchase (china vs. us seller). Dahua makes some nice ptz's, but the price point is high at about 650 or so.

Thanks, fenderman. I had no luck with ipcamviewer. I decided to return the iSmart camera, it is junk as you stated in previous reply. I looked through several pages of Hikvision cameras on Amazon, and they seem to have very good ratings. My main issue is they all appear to be POE and I only want a good wireless camera. Any suggestions?
