Hi everyone,
Just joined. Ash from the UK. Love everything tech. Mostly I like tinkering with stuff.
Got into CCTV cameras for my home a few years ago. when they packed up I purchased NEST cams, but found them kinda boring as I had nothing to alter. lol

Sent them back and purchased a HIKvision DS-7608NI-K2 8Ch NVR with 2 x 4K Bullet Cams HIKVision cams & 1 x Hikvision Wifi 2MP POE IP Mini Dome with Built in Microphone & 1 x Hikvision 5MP POE IP Mini Dome Camera with Built in Mic
My recent addition is the HiWatch (Hikvision) wifi doorbell.
Everything is hardwired via CAT 6A cabling. (Other than the doorbell). My broadband provider is Virgin Media. Download of 350, and upload of 20.

All was running via HIK-Connect p2p, but found that very hit and miss, playbacks taking too long with buffering etc.
Set up DDNS on the NVR yesterday through NO-IP (my own domain name).
However HIK-Connect doesn't push alarm notifications if setup with DDNS. And iVMS-4500 doesn't play ball with the Hikvision Doorbell. So now using 2 apps.

Any other apps you guys know of that I can use to have all in one place?

Looking forward to receiving some advice and handing out advice wherever I can. :)

Thanks
Ash

P2p is a major security risk.
Set up a VPN to access you cameras.

Read, study, plan before spending money.

Thanks buddy.
I have pretty good professional IT infrastructure at home which gives me access my entire network remotely.

Im just having issues with the horrible iOS APPs. One app sends notifications but doesn't communicate with doorbell. Other APP communicates with doorbell but doesn't send notifications.

Got onto supplier just now, he's recommended another APP, EZVIZ. Will set that up later today.

You and perhaps the rest of the internet.

It doesn't sound like a VPN as you would have responded to the good suggestion.
Reverse proxy with Radius 2-factor authentication, IPS/IDS, dynamic blocking and shunning?

Per @SouthernYankee comment - Hikvision's P2P offerings have been found wanting again, security-wise, recently.
And not just due to their origin.

I dont have an issue with VPN’ing in hence I’ve not mentioned my set up.
I have an issue with the app.

I’ve also explained in my post that I STOPPED using the p2p service.

Pretty hostile you guys aren’t you?

Did I miss something? Did I introduce myself wrong?

Not so much hostile as often inflicting a small jolt against indications of types of remote access that carry risks that the user may be unaware of.
With good intentions, maybe not always coming across that way.
